Hard water spots

I moved to a new place that has hard water. What kinds of things have people done to keep the spots off the car after washing?

You can spray a detailer spray on the entire car after you wash it or you can rinse it with filtered water after you wash it.

Our water is pretty hard -- we drink it with a fork and knife. Don't wash a car in the sun and get it dry using an Absorber as soon as you can. No issues doing it this way.

Get yourself some optimum no rinse. It is a rinseless wash. Use that to wash your car. It will save you a ton of time. ONR has water softening capabilities built into it. You could also add a little ONR into your wash bucket to soften the water. It will also kill the suds in the soap solution.

Other than that wash and dry right away out of the sun.

I toyed with the idea of plumbing in a filtration system to my garage hose feed. There are systems out there made specifically for this application but they were a bit salty.

Thanks guys for the suggestions. The wash and dry does ok. I would just rather let it air dry. Laziness I guess. Maybe I will try a whole house filter on the hose, see if it help's a bit.

My hard water drives me crazy. Can't seem to do anything to totally get rid of them.

^^ I think that is one that I looked at. What killed it for me was that the cartridges only last for 300 gallons with "average" water. Our water is super hard with lots of dissolved mineral content so I imagine that we would get less than optimal cartridge life.

The refill runs $49.00 and you apparently only have to replace the contents of the cartridges: https://www.amazon.com/CR-Spotless-W...less+cartridge

So easy to dry it takes a couple of minutes. Steal one of the car wife's expensive bath towels (large) and dry the car for two minutes. Done!

What do you do for water spots then? I can't figure out how to get rid of mine.

That's just asking for scratches. Bath towels are not as soft as high quality drying towels meant for drying paint.

Haven't had an issue really. One thing I forgot to mention is that as I wash the car I go back and re-wet areas that are completed. This keeps them from drying until I am completely finished and ready to go at it with an Absorber.

Pajeff02 you only use the cr spotless on the rinse of the vehicle. If you use a pressure washer on the rinse it will help with the how long the cartriges last.

Checkout Adams website if you haven't already. They have a new sealant system that looks really nice and may be of benefit to you.

That works for me as well. If time is an issue I will run it down the road a few miles and start drying. :-)
