    First time doing this!

Okay so i'm not gonna lie, at first i thought waxing was a waste of time but then after seeing before and after pics here it gave me hopes for my poor baby. The paint on my black 98 was/is BAD! It has tons of swirl marks and well it was all my fault i let her sit in the dirt and stuff for months and would hand wash it but i was careless about it. So come Saturday i decided to try waxing i had nothing better to do and fuuuuuuuuuuuuuuck i can t stop now! these are some progress pics as i ran outta time and i didn't finish. But how about some suggestions to make her look better?! Also i removed the side molding and it looks bad around the edges where the modling where, you can kinda see it in the below pics, what can i do about that?

    Not Waxed

    Waxed!

    Waxed!

    Waxed

Ill get finished pics up next week when i get more time to finish and maybe do a second time around

Looks better, but all you did was hide the swirls temporarily.

Take it to a pro and have the swirls removed. The black will look 10x deeper and more wet.

If you are this new to the detailing game, I would'nt recommend getting too involved with a black car. Take it to a pro, pay the 125 bucks or so and you will be more than happy with the results

Quality costs money. But its not for everyone. Cheap detailing helps keep me in business....lots of cars for me to fix when someone else has already hacked it up.

No need to apologize for what you choose to do with your car.

Looks much improved. I agree that the next step should involve buffing the car -- be it professional or something you do on your own. I buffed our car for the first time last fall and it made a world of difference. I'll never achieve results like the pros, but as a do-it-myselfer I was pleased with the results.

im scared of buffing! lol my dad always warned me that i could burn through the paint. everytime someone came to his body shop and wanted their car buffed, i believe he would say "id rather be whipped with a garden hose!"

That is true with traditional rotary buffers (like the DeWalt, Makita 9227 CX3, Hitachi, etc)... But random orbitals like the Porter Cable 7424xp can't burn edges.

On a side note, your dad had a body shop but was afraid to use a rotary??

Yeah it's there.. Just a couple things

To the OP don't get me wrong, I don't discourage getting pro to hook up your shine. But I also would not discourage the "DIY"er either. Little more time on that jewl and she'll shine up good for ya. Stick to it, if you're trying any new compounds start small. Just incase you're not liking it's results you wont have it all over..

he wasnt afraid, i am. he DID buff after he painted, but he wouldnt just buff a car for someone who came in and wanted their car buffed. its a pain in the ass.
