    Dull rims

I have boyd coddington smoothies and they dont seem to have as much shine as others i've seen. If you look close, it seems like they have tiny water stains. i try to polish them with mothers chrome polish but they dont seem to go away. any advice would be awesome. thanks

I worked with a guy in a body shop who used to do all kinds of polishing on various metals. I have a set of eagle 18's that were very dull and I used mother mag and aluminum polish and it helped but not as good as I wanted. He let me in on a little secret, and that was to polish them with jewelers red rouge, which is jewelry polish on a buffer wheel or a power ball. The stuff works great. I use the following process, first clean the wheels good, spray a little mist of water on wheel, then use power ball with the rouge aplied to the power ball, buff entire wheel, take your time the longer you spend the better it will look, wipe clean apply mothers billet wheel polish by hand with terry or micro fiber cloth, finnaly wipe clean and repeat billet polish if nessecary. This process works great my wheels turn out looking like chromeand I use this process once a year, however I put on stock wheels in winter. You may have to apply twice if you use as daily driver. I think the rouge costs around 8$ to 12$ dollars and you can buy at any jewelry store. The billet polish runs around 14$ I think. Hope this helps

The system I use works on both clear coated and polished wheels. You get better results out of the polished wheels of course.

I just bought a 2000 TA and the side walls had almost like black shoe polish on them. Does anyone know what that is ? It was greasy, but not grease. Thanks.

I could not tell you what that is however, I use the black magic spray on aresol can and I am very happy with results and when it comes to wheel cleaner I use eagle one aluminum wheel cleaner because it works great on the polished wheels and just as good on clear coated wheels.
