The only time I've had that done I paid to have it done professionally.
After that I kept it up myself cleaning it regularly with a towel, and QD.
If your engine bay is too dirty, I'd recommend a steam clean, but that's something you don't want to be doing on a regular basis.
    Just my .02 cents

QD stands for Quick Detailer. It's a spray dressing generally good for fiberglass, glass, paint, plastic, and metal. You will have to find your favorite by trial and error, or see if what you already have may work also.

i've done it multiple times, just make sure the engine is cold , so you dont crack anything that goes from hot to cold

dont squirt water directly on electrical parts to be safe

    My life is a
    Ben Stiller movie.

you can pressure wash the outside; just lighten the pressure over the window jambs and doors b/c the water/pressure will find it's way inside.

Right now ? Sounds as though you got it up to par and you are keeping it that way with some qd every once in a while, which is good ...........I'd stay away from the hi pressure washers... Steam cleaners are a bit more foregiving....As far as the amount of water you're putting over the motor.

Hi pressure washers normally use's hi pressure water (500# - 2500#) and lots of water to clean (home owners).
They do make a hi pressure "hot water" cleaner that works better but still use's lots of water .

Steam cleaner's use hi temp steam (250 degree and more of steam) to clean which means you're not dumping as much water on what you're cleaning and cleans faster and easier....But steam is more
harsh on paint and decals and such....Got to be more careful on surface's that you want to stay show quality...
