    TECHNICAL BACKGROUND

Optimum Car Wax (patents 6669763 & 6685765) was developed after years of research in manufacturing automotive paint. Although automotive paint technology has experienced revolutionary changes in the past decade, the major wax/polish manufacturers have continued to offer the same old technologies. Almost all Original Equipment Manufacturers' (OEM's) automotive paint systems used today have a pigmented base coat protected by a thin layer of clear coat. The base coat is comprised primarily of pigments or colorants held in place by a polymeric resin film (binder). The clear coat contains polymeric resin or binder, UV inhibitors, and generally one or more additives. The additives can help protect the surface from scratches and marring, and generally last several months. Optimum Car Wax will add Carnauba wax to the surface and replenish sealant polymers to protect the finish from the environmental elements.

The UV inhibitors help keep the paint free of "free radical" degradation, and protect the pigments and colorants from oxidation. Over time the UV inhibitors become deactivated or consumed. Optimum Car Wax with UV is the only car wax that contains UV inhibitors and helps protect the paint from degradation and oxidation.

    ENVIRONMENTAL STATEMENT

Optimum Car Wax contains no chemical solvents or other environmentally hazardous compounds. Optimum Car Wax contains no VOCs and only the finest waxes, methicones, and emollients that are also used in many hand lotions. It is, therefore, very safe for the consumers as well as for the environment.

    TECHNICAL DATA

    EXTERNAL UV TESTING

Panels that were painted with automotive base coat and clear coat systems were divided into two sections, the top half was left untreated while the lower half was treated with Optimum Car Wax. These panels were subjected to UV light in a QUV instrument which mimics direct sunlight. After only 6 weeks in the QUV instrument (which is roughly equivalent to two years of normal weathering), the untreated panels showed loss of gloss and clarity while the sections treated with Optimum Car Wax retained their high gloss and clarity.*

    * Study conducted by Buckman Laboratories, Memphis, TN 9/10/02.

    INTERNAL UV TESTING

Optimum Car Wax with UV was applied to clear coated glass panels and the UV levels were measured through the film. The UV inhibitors in Optimum car Wax reduced the UV levels by 43%. This level of UV protection can help increase the life of paint and the colorants in the paint by up to two fold.* * Study conducted by Optimum Polymer Technologies, Memphis, TN 10/15/01.

    DURABILITY TESTING

Optimum Car Wax was applied to automotive coated panels along with two major leading spray car wax brands. These panels were left on an exterior surface at a 45 degree angle toward south along with an untreated control panel for five months. During this period of time, the panels were washed with car wash soaps on a weekly basis. While the panels treated with the competitive products showed no water beading after just one wash, the panels with Optimum Car Wax with UV showed visible water beading after 22 washes.* * Study conducted by Optimum Polymer Technologies, Memphis, TN 7/14/02.

I'm contemplating taking a ride down on Sunday. Saturday I have some prior engagements, so I was just planning to see what sunday brings. If I'm bored I was going to take a ride down for a little.

Frank, if you need some input on the optimum stuff, there is a lot of buzz about it on autopia. I'd give you my impressions, but dont want you to mistake them for a sales pitch
