    Angry Window Motor

My driver side window is stuck down and it wont do anything.
I have tried hitting on the door and slamming it but it still wont do anything.
Is there anything else I can try to get it to come up one last time?

Sometimes when the motor is dead, you can get it to inch its way up, may have to wait 5-10 mins between each inch of movement though. If its not moving up at all, you are probably SOL and just gonna have to bite the bullet and purchase a new window motor.

I'd have them throw a regulator in there, usually thats the cause of the motor failing so often on these cars.

The regulator does claim a lot of failures but the power distribution is also a BIG issue.

Your express down module could have died. I would take the door panel off and try jumping 12v directly to the motor to make sure it is the motor.

And MAKE SURE when they put new regulators in they DON'T strip out those rivets or you're SOL. Those rivets are what keep the window aligned and if they're cracked or stripped out you might as well get a new door panel. Mine is like that on the driver side and no matter how many times I get the trim fixed it's still gonna leak water in there on occasion. So NEVER take it to an average mechanic like I did cause buddy am I paying for it now!

I agree....plus the windows on f-bodys are very big & heavy....alot of strain on those little motors over time. failure is to be expected.

    Window motor

I've replaced one in both my ta's. If it started as going up & down slowly then you had to wait a few minutes or longer to get it to move the motor is bad. When you replace the motor use stainless steel bolts to put it back. Those rivots are a real pain. Get a friend to help you. Easier with two people

They make a nut riveter as well. Instead of a regular rivet it puts a threaded nut on the far side WITHOUT taking the panel off. Then next time it is real easy.

So i was lucky yesterday that I was able to close my window. The window stopped half the way up, I had to wait 20-30 seconds and it moved all the way up.
So its time for a new motor

my old 95 camaro locked up two inches from closing. i took the window motor out and tried to lube it and hooked it back up to power but not in the door. it was locked up.
i just had to buy a new window motor. don't buy from car part store. i got mine off the internet for like 40 bucks versus like 150 at the part store...it works fine. had to grind out rivets to remove from the lift and find new bolts and nuts to secure it.

if the fix kit runs directly to your battery does that mean that the window may be rolled down while ignition off???
if so i don't want that. all you would have to do is stick a hanger in the window and press the button a viola..you are in my car... no good if i am right.

No that is not the case.

We use relays to take the signal from the switch and redirect power from the batter to the window motor.

There is no power to the switches when the ignition is off so the windows will not work.

The windows will only work when they worked before. With ignition on or after ignition off before doors are opened. If your radio works the windows will work, if not, the windows will not work.

    Hope that clear it up..

I'm just wondering why one day it looks like the window won't move and the other days it works perfect again...

Most likely you're seeing a difference in temperature. Also it depends what you are doing, if you roll it down and go somewhere then roll it up.. It will roll up a lot faster than if you rolled it down to spit your gum and rolled it back up immediatly.
