Who knows their Head units?
So the backlight evidently burned out on my stock radio in the silverado, so the numbers and such dont light up at night, but I was kinda looking to repace it anyway, Heres what i would like to acomplish....
Gotta have Ipod hookup, and preferably work on a scroll wheel system just as the ipod would normally but through the head unit,
would like it to have a cd player also but maybe not a dealbreaker
Needs to have a tuner or Aux imputs for my XM radio also...
nice screen that would actually resemble the ipod screen...
GO...

I've got the Alpine IDA-X001, Alpine's first deck with full IPod control. It doesn't have a cd player in it but I haven't bought a cd in a couple of years. I think the latest single DIN sized deck is the IDA-X305. It's main control knob is very similar to a click wheel IPod.

Navy Blue Metallic- 2000 T/A Firehawk M6
I love my head unit. The sound quality is already AMAZING without even adding speakers. It has the ipod functions and everything but i suggest reading up on the ipod unit for this model since it "prefers" you control it through the head... there is a workaround but it's a bit annoying. Otherwise PERFECT head unit. Pioneer Premier DEH-P800PRS here's some pics.

alpine is probably the best one for ipod
and has the better internal crossovers and stuff like that
alpine 9886 or 9887 is what I would get
on the alpines you have to control headunit though it's very easy

Custom Swirly Black- 2001 WS6 M6
Pioneer has had ipod hook up for a long time. They flip screens are the best ipod head unit out there, the touch screens. Interface was the best I've ever used. I've been using pioneer for over a decade and my first ipod was mini.

always dirty- 2013 Ram 2014 Caddy ATS
This is similar to what I have. http://www.crutchfield.com/p_130P410...B.html?tp=5684. It took a little while to get used to one knob to control everything though. I don't even use my Ipod in my camaro usually. I leave a flashdrive hooked up and it controls it fine.

well just an update, I came across a deal i couldnt pass up for the silverado... I got a 6.5in touch screen dvd player for 75 bucks, so thats already in there and wired up but im going to haveto make the trim extend out with some paint and bondo, but all is well, i think ill still go with one of these alpine units to replace the old and outdated pioneer unit i got in the trans am tho, so keep the ideas and opinions coming...
