    swapping head units and speakers

Ok so I had an idea about running 6 mids and highs. Let me know if this will work or if it may be a problem child. My plan was to replace all of the stock speakers with 6 regular speakers meaning 6 1/2's in the doors, and in the stock sub location and a pair 4inch speakers in the hatch area, then add a sub box for bass. Could I run the 4 6 1/2's off the head units front and rear channels and then tap into the rear channel and send that to the factory amp and run the 4inchers off the factory amp and just use the new head units sub pre out for a seperate sub amp? I do have a 4 channel amp I could use but would like not to if I don't have to and save it for another project.

The factory amp's rear output is just bass for the rear 6 1/2's. You would need to use the front output from the amp for the 4".

    OK thats not a problem.
I was wondering is this is going to over load the channel on the head uinit?
I would think the amout that the amps low side would need would be smaller than just hooking up 4 speakers on one channel.

Cool, thanks for your help. If i feed the front channel of the factory amp will that send sound to the factor speaker wires in the hatch or just the front?

It would send it to the front speakers. The 4" are powered of the headunit and the front tweeters. The other 6 1/2 are powered from the amp. It will take some cutting and splicing to make the stock amp run the rear speakers. I also think the amp might be crossed over to only produce bass. Most people say you don't hear the 4" really so you could just run new speaker wiring from the headunit to the front and sail speakers and leave out the 4". I have a vert so I don't have them to say yes or no to using them.
