Stealthbox with CD changer
How do you guys get one of those stealth boxes into your trans am / camaro when your monsoon systems come with the 12 disc changer mounted in that hole. Is there any way to keep both?
On a different note, stealthboxes are going for close to 500 locally. Couldn't I just cheap out by putting some dynomat in that hole and sealing it up with some mdf with a sub mounted in it....or would that sound terrible?Last edited by Intrepidman; 04-23-2009 at 05:10 AM.

500 is high even if it is already amplified. Check subthump you can get the empty box cheaper and add your speaker of choice. You could also look at crutchfield for something too. You could maybe move the cd changer to the other side or remove it.

I don't think those are really options, I know most people just tear it out, toss the head unit too, and then install a new mp3 compatible unit that plays a million songs, but I prefer to leave the head unit alone and therefor I love the CD changer. As far as moving it to the other side...I'd have to remove the jack and spare and the panel that covers them in order to make room (and though I've never looked in there) I doubt it would look good wide open for the would to see.
....perhaps I will take a look though.

When I had my 96' Firebird, I had a MTX steath box with a 9" sub and a 3 1/2 mid there. It only cost me new back then $220. My Amp I had to hide other places but 500 is way too high....

So how do you power an amp way back there? Do I need to run wires to it, or is there a type that will run off the feed to the rear speakers for both its power and signal input?

My amp was located in a different location, ran the wires under carpet...
