    Speaker trouble

Im helping a friend fix a radio in his car today and we cant get the speakers to work? They pop when the radio is turned on so I assume the wires are good, but other than that one pop nothing else happens. Its a kenwood a headunit if that helps. Any suggestions would be appreciated...

More details like this will help...

    Properly grounded?

    Is it brand new?

Everything work on the HU? FM/AM, CD, AUX?

The speakers work with the previous HU?

Does the new HU have a mute option?
