sail speakers
My sail speakers blew and i put rockford fosgate 6 1/2 components ( with the tweeter in the middle)in and they have very little sound now. i know its the ohms. is there any way to reduce the ohms of the speaker or increase the ohm capability of the radio? i was thinking about cutting the tweeter wire b/c i know that is the reason for some of the extra ohms....any help guys?
thanks

You can very rarely find them on eBay.
Best to just get them from ED website.
The listed price includes shipping so it's pretty reasonable.
Around $65 each.

When they are on eBay, they're usually being sold by Elemental Designs anyway for about the same price... just a way for them to reach out to more people.

No -- you need a spacer.

kicker has new subs that will fit in the sail panel. its the kicker cvt65. looks really good and shallow enough that you wont need to put a spacer in.

Though Kicker doesn't state it specifically, I'm sure they would be fine free-air. Below are descriptions I found off of two seperate sites regarding the product:
{
"Kicker CompVT 6.5" subwoofer was specially designed for “Livin’ Loud” in the harsh automotive environment. CompVT subwoofers are versatile and surpass the competition in a sealed box, but can also be mounted in free air applications and factory cutout locations. The small diameter of the CompVT 6.5" subwoofer makes it ideal for custom installations and space-limited applications."
}
{
Details:
* 6.5" 4-ohm subwoofer
* injection-molded polypropylene woofer cone with ribbed Santoprene surround
* suitable for marine use
* works in free-air applications
* power handling: 50-150 watts RMS (300 watts peak power)
* frequency response: 25-350 Hz
* sensitivity: 84.6 dB
* top-mount depth: 2-13/16"
* sealed box volume: 0.2-3.0 cubic feet
* warranty: 1 year
}

doesn't that 6.5" 4 ohm speaker line make it not to good for the 2 ohm monsoon setup??

Firebirds use dual voice coil subs.
You would just use one pair of wires to power a single voice-coil sub. You lose some power from the Monsoon amp though. Because of that, I think the best replacement for the Firebirds are these: http://ls1tech.com/forums/showthread.php?t=639901
Unless someone can find another 6.5" dual 4-ohm sub...

Does anyone know if you have to cut or drill anything to put those kicker subs in the sail panels? If not I am getting a set for my camaro.
