Used to be able to take an inop unit to any GM dealer and exchange it for a reman unit. That way you knew you were getting one that worked, and came with a warranty if it didn't. Not sure if they even offer that service anymore.
You said yours is missing the guts??? In that case it probably wouldn't be an acceptable core for GM anyway, and not sure why someone would even do that.
In any case, your only other option is used. Either fleabay or the classifieds. That's going to be a crapshoot. Very hard to find these used in perfect working order anymore.
An added tip when you do find one. Clean the inside with rubbing alcohol and cue tips. I've found unit's that skip, or won't play at all. They were filthy inside. A good cleaning did the trick for most.Last edited by Firebirdjones; 02-12-2010 at 02:11 PM.

Custom Swirly Black- 2001 WS6 M6
rockautoparts.com <- cheapest reliable website around.
Otherwise check some local junkyards or post up an add on the wanted section here.
IMO, invest in some apple hardware.
