black- 2001 Trans Am
Radio Buzz
One year ago I purchased a 2001 trans am. I do not have a good/clear history on this car. It must have had an upgraded head unit removed (wires chopped) and a delco head unit was put in. This delco unit "may" have been the original. A wire harness was "patched in" which matches up with the current delco unit, but leaves one wire hanging. The cd player works fine. The radio has a "buzz" that it picks up from the motor. As I accelerate the "buzz" follows the rpms. I have questions.
1. There are 16 wires coming from under the dash and only 15 loose ends available on the "patched in" harness. Why?
2. The "buzz" is similar to those from am radios we had in cars back in the "60s". What can I do?Last edited by donkill; 07-11-2011 at 11:04 AM.

I have a 99 TA and want to say I have 14 wires out of the harness, But your best bet would be to look up the wiring diagram online. As far as the buzz could be from Power and Signal wires being to close, also could be a bad ground. Best bet would be to grab a chunk of loom and separate the power from signal wires and find a good ground and long wire and start testing.
