    Possible factory amp problem?

i have the 8 speaker monsoon system or whatever and half of the time the factory subs don't even work and i have no bass, then sometimes it will start working. checked all the speaker connections and their fine. could the amp possibly be going bad? i mean the wire harness is connected to it fine so i don't think it's that. Should i just find another f-body at a junkyard and buy the amp from it and replace it?? thanks.

Before you buy a new amp check this first. When it cuts out turn the volume knob up and down and see if the speakers kick in first. If it starts to work then the headunit is the problem.

i've tried this and it's not the head unit. BUT yesterday while my car was running i slammed my driver side door closed real hard, and guess what? the bass started pounding out the speakers again...

so i guess it's some sort of wiring problem?

Check the wiring where it comes through the door. Could be a wire is bare in a spot and grounding out. Could even be the window regulator hitting.

I also had a similar problem, dealer ended up ordering/installing new amp, no more problem.
