    Pioneer Double DIN Install

Just about finished with the project. I need to fix up some paint imperfections, but looks damn good. Toughest part was fabricating bracket to mount the stereo to the stock location.

Used a shim and router to cut a nice straight opening at the top.

    MDF to create the opening

    Bracket

    Filler

    Paint

    Installed

Yeah, it takes a bit of time, but nothing too complicated. Plus, you save a bunch of money doing it yourself. I think it cost me about $15 in parts/supplies. Probably a good 10 hrs or so of actual labor.

Nice work. I've had my pioneer d3 and bracket in my closet for a year to lazy to install.

Check around (even with the dealer) and see if they have a theft repair kit. I've had to order them for cars before that had been broken into and people have done hackjobs.

Hell, it shouldnt be too hard to find a harness. Most 88-up GM's used the 21-pin harness.

The only difference may be a power antenna wire and steering wheel control wire.

So far, I love it. Got my Ipod hooked up and sitting in the glove compartment. You can control the ipod through the radio. Really easy to find songs. I haven't used bluetooth during a phone call yet; still waiting for the microphone from amazon. I've played bluetooth audio, and it works good, but being connected directly through the usb is much, much clearer. I just installed some Boston Acoustic speakers in the fronts and sails. Music sounds amazing.
