    no cruise control

so i haven't had cruise control now all summer and it's driving me insane.

a list of components that are good...because i've replaced them recently

cruise switch (located on the brake pedal bracket)
clutch switch (located on the clutch bracket)
clutch anticipation switch (located on the clutch bracket)

the only thing that i haven't replaced is the stoplight switch (i have brake lights so i doubt that that is my problem) and i haven't replaced the turn signal lever. i replaced the lever a few years back with one out of a '96 monte carlo and it worked with no problem for the last 5 years...so unless that has gone bad...

i've been looking through wiring diagrams to trace back the wiring and it all ends with the ecm so i'm...i dunno. at this point the only thing that i can think of is the turn signal lever is bad (the push button switch on the end of the lever).

just hasn't been my summer with the car. first the ongoing ses light (i have another thread on that one), then the other day the parking brake lets loose and she rolls into a pile of rocks fubaring up my paint, and now this ongoing cruise control issue that isn't getting resolved.

Check the wires coming off the switch into the column, chances are they broke or wore through. They are pretty thin and not in the greatest of spots. The great thing is they used that same stalk on the entire range of GM line going as far back as the early 80s so finding one shouldn't be too hard.

Crash - I am posting mobile so I can't see what year your car is. I have the factory service manuals for the '02 and would be happy to look up the troubleshooting procedure.

Installing LED bulbs in my center brake light kept my cruise from working. Needed to install a relay coil in the circuit to provide some resistance and it works fine now. I never would have suspected the brake light until I found a thread about it on the forum.
