    New stereo/Wheel controls

My 01 SS has the steering wheel controls, but I have a real nice JVC head unit I was thinking of installing. Will the JVC unit allow me to still use the steering wheel controls? Or do I need some sort of converter??

check around though seems like there would be a way to wire it up. The radio installers I asked said no but maybe they were not good enough

You will need an adapter to use the steering wheel controls. I use a pac swi-x. The SWI-JACK says it can be used with JVC's. You can find out more info here http://www.pac-audio.com/products/pr...el%20Interface

used the swi-jack with my alpine, works great! and you can make the buttons do whatever you want. I messed up the first time programming it and my mute button turned the sound up. haha. I fixed it easily.

Its never to late to add it. As someone stated you can program the steering wheel buttons to perform any of the functions from the remote buttons.

well a while back I was going to put in an aftermarket which I never did cause I was told my steering controls would not work. I asked several people and a few radio shops. Good to know in the future I can.

You can get this part pretty cheap on eBay. Or you can get it through Crutchfield.com

Yeah, definitely read the directions. I didn't wait long enough for the light to go out when programming each button. So hitting any button on my wheel caused that button to repeatedly get hit. I hit volume up ONCE and the volume would keep increasing until it maxxed out. Not cool
