    New Head Unit?????

I have a 2001 ws6 and I would like to get better sound but I don`t want to get a plain 4 channel head unit. Are there any aftermarket head units like the stock one or should I just have an amp and sub unit hooked into the stock system????????????????????

im not really sure how the wiring to the subwoofers works on the stock HU but as long as there is an RCA connection you can buy any decent aftermarket HU and have the pre-outs to use for the sub. I'd recommend an alpine or pioneer premiere, they both have good signal to noise ratios and the best bang for your buck.

You can hookup a sub and amp to the stock head unit. I dont know exactly how it is done, but I have a friend that has been in the car audio business for about 8yrs now. He told me it could be done.

it can be done, I tapped into the rear line for the sub and located feed to amp to input the aftermarket amp. BUT the best way to go is an aftermarket deck and amps. Thats what I eventually did, rewired the speakers w/ larger gauge wire directly from the amp and sub has a dedicated output so now its CLEAN and crisp with a thump. I went with a 10" sub and its plenty. read the radio diagram and youll see the stock amp feed to go to the new amp. Ill look and see if I can find the colors again.
