New Alarm Q's

ARRIGHT so i got the new viper 771xr alarm system and i'm waiting for my off day to put it in but i cant figure somethin out. I've never put in an alarm on a car with a factory alarm. Do I need to get the GM factory alarm bypass? some said I did, some said I jus needed to disable the vats system with the key. i have an 02 transam by the way.

ARRIGHT so i found out that the bypass is simply a little box that you put a spare ignition key in so that it tricks the computer into thinking the key is in the ignition. jus hooked up my ohmmeter to the key and found out my ohm reading so...jus sauder a resistor the same ohm rateing...save $50...
