need help choosing an amp..
ive got a set of 2 rockford 12" P2s. They say 8ohm on the speakers themselves. i think they end up being 4ohm...not sure though. if they are, what are a few choice amps i should get? I was thinking of just getting the new jl 500/1v2 and just using that. should i look into something else? cheaper? more expensive?

look into jl's a-series amps, they're not as great as the slash series, but they're great especially for the price

they're about the same price, so i figured i might as well go with the 500/1v2

I would HIGHLY recommend you go on Ebay and buy a Old School quality amp.
Besides the fact it will sound better most new amps will not put out shit for power at a 4@ohm bridged load which is what you have.
I'll post some links to some quality amps that will be more than enough power for your 12's @ 4ohm load.
This could run your whole system VERY cleanly and you'll NEVER have issues if wired correctly. I have one I bought new in 92 and it hasn't blinked once.

One of the BEST sub amps ever made! This is the monster everyone referred to as the "Voice Coil Fryer" and Too Short refer to. It is more power than you need fro your subs but you can run it @ 8 ohm stereo and it will sound awesome! It will probably sell for around $300-350 which is still cheaper than the JL you were talking about and twice the amp. Mine just did 1200+ @14v at a 4ohm load. I have 3 of these.

A great mono sub amp I have a couple of these also.

This is a great choice also. Don't be fooled by the #'s these are from when real amps were made in the US and were rated at 12v not 15or16 like the new garbage.

I also have one of these that does near 920w @ 14.4v it will also blow that JL out of the water with power and sound quality.

This would also run your complete system. These were the second best amps Rockford ever made.

Another great buy for a true 900w for a mere $300. This was made by the man Steve Mantz a friend of mine.

Another brand of amps Steve made.

All but one of these links are from sellers I deal with I collect car audio and do alot of work with it so I'm stating facts not blowing you shit.Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!

also, i like the look of that cadence amp. I know there's a big thing with JL and the w7 series having to run the slash series amps..will this have any negative effect on them or will they work well with it? if so and if shipping is reasonable, ill probably get it.

Did you buy that Cadence.....?
If not here another choice that would pound those 12's. Keenwood used to make clean quality power. The 23's were the last series for them 723,823,923,& 1023.

I guess you didn't cause it's still listed.
That is what a power supply is supposed to look like.
This guy collects quality like me. He always has some rear find clean as hell. For anyone else looking for clean old school power hit him up.

i didnt get it as you saw. I ended up going with this amp:
http://www.woofersetc.com/index.cfm?...Product_ID=475
its seemed pretty good and I got it pretty cheap. I know I could've gotten more power out of the cadence for the same price, but I thought it was overkill for my subs. I know Im going to upgrade subs later and 600w should push them/it, if not, then i know what thread to turn to
fyi,
im also going to run alpine spx17ref 6.5" in the front with a 2 channel amp i found here on the island for $100.
