Monsoon and Burned CD's
I have a '99 Camaro I bought a couple of years ago; I was fortunate that when I purchased the basic warranty coverage, some one miss keyed and game me major care! Hoo Hoo! Anyway, since I had the car, the head unit has had problems with playing CD's, CD's skipping, stuff like that. The service folks push back when I tell them about this problem because they say it happens because I play burned CD's in the unit. Is that true? I find it hard to believe. I really want to get the radio replaced before my warranty runs out. Let me know something!

I thought it was dumb because what could cause a burned CD to mess up a head unit. Can someone give me an "expert" answer to take back to the dealership?

The only thing that would mess up the head unit is if the CD is out of balance. I belive some of the Memorex ones that came in black were off balance from the factory and therefore created problems in many headunits.
A burned CD alone should do no damaged. Its the same size, dimensions, and weight as any other CD, just the data on it is slightly different. So the headunit should accept/eject it just like any other disc, it just may have issues playing the music of its a bad burn or something.
