iPhone owners...
So who all here has a iphone? I'm wanting to get a FM transmitter and if you have one which one do you have and do you recommend it? I was thinking this one [ame]http://www.amazon.com/Griffin-Technology-9559-AUTOPLTB-AutoPilot-iPod/dp/B000WKW6HS/ref=sr_1_13?ie=UTF8&s=electronics&qid=1257803669&s r=1-13[/ame] but it says I need a aux in port??? I fail at my knowledge on stereos so I assume this means we can't do this with our stock system (I have a 95') so would I need to buy a new stereo? Thanks

Yes that one needs a stereo with the AUX input and will not work with the stock stereo.
Do a search, there is an adapter for the back of the stock radios that lets you hook up to your iPhone.
I ended up hard wiring an AUX port to my stock radio. DO NOT buy an FM transmitter, they all suck no matter what the company says.Last edited by SandmanWs7; 11-09-2009 at 04:57 PM.

I have a FM Transmitter, I can use it for a normal ipod but my Iphone doesn't work with it. well its a cheap ebay one so that could explain that. (BTW its the 35 (or something?) pin conection at the bottom, not the headphone jack output)

I have an FM transmitter type one. Belkin? ... doesn't work that well 'cos I guess my radio is either crappy or toooooo sensitive, I can't find an open frequency that has no disturbance or some sort of slight channel mixup. I guess the Belkin doesn't have a strong enough signal to overcome that. I just did the Novak mod and use a charger.

If you want simplicity, I use something called an FM interupter. It falls somewhere between an FM transmitter and the CD player tap in quality. I payed $40 from ABC warehouse. Not perfect, but cost effective.

But don't buy a transmitter, as previously stated, between me and my friends, we've been through them all.
It's a law: FM Transmitter = Garbage = Waste of money = Frustration = Crap music quailty

i bought something for $80 bucks, just plugs into my ciggy...
works fine for me, as long as you tune it to the right radio station..
I wish it could just plug directly to the car like some people have hooked up, like what lupe suggested....i know id fudge it up if i did it myself

Here's an after thought, has anyone tried unplugging the antenna, see if the interference drops? It should, in theory.
But that all depends on how much you like the radio, I hate it, all pop/bubble gum music around here, in between the commercials.
(I don't know why I'm promoting the idea of a transmitter.... so please excuse the temporary brain fart.)Last edited by KMdef9; 11-11-2009 at 07:18 AM.

my xm has a magnet antenna that the radio picks up ..no wires necessary to be ran to the radio. maybe something like this would work.

Arctic White & Black- '98 WS6 M6 - SWAPTIME!
**cheap headunit = $100
AUX plug up = $25-$50
**think kenwood, JVC, pioneer ... craigslist has TONS upon TONS of cheap headunits ... i got one for the toolbox for $75 and it's an alpine!
sounds hands down best, works with subs/amp, don't have to worry about static or changing stations to find best reception. i did it in my truck three years ago and swapped out headunits to keep it when i bought my TA. never looked back
