Hooking up subs / amp ??????
Hi.
I have a 98 z28 and I want to hook up 2 -10" subs and my Rockford Fosgate amp. I want to keep my factory monsoon stero in my car. My question is to turn my fosgate amp on/off I usually hook the on/off wire to the power antenna wire on the back of a aftermarket cd player but where would I hook this wire to on my factory setup?? Maybe the on/off wire going to my factory monsoon amp?? If so can you tell me where the factory monsoon amp is located and which wire turns the amp on/off??? My other question is which wires can be used as the input wires to my fosgate amp? Would the wires needed to connect to my input on my fosgate amp be located on the stock monsoon amp as well??? If so what colors are those and which are the positive/negative. I am terrible at wiring diagrams but have hooked up many aftermarket stereos because I run all the wires myself. Any help would be great. Thank You-----mike

Get a cheap crossover to tap in to each rear sub ( beside rear seats ) then use the preouts to the amp. The subs are dual coil, but you only need to tap onto one set on each sub.

Will the cheap crossover take the "power" out of the signal so my fosgate amp doesnt fry???

You don't need a crossover to tap into the factory speaker wiring. What you need is a speaker level to line level adaptor also caled an LOC (Line Output Converter). If your amp has "speaker level" inputs you won't even need the LOC. Your amp may already have a built in crossover so you won't need one of those either.

My life is a- Ben Stiller movie.
exactly how i did mine some time back. Tap the wires from the subs in the sail panels and run them back and connect to the LOC.
Your power wire goes to the battery
your remote [on / off wire] can be hooked into the fuses on the driver's side of your dash. Make sure you plug it into one that will TURN OFF when the car is off, otherwise the amp stays on and will burn out your battery.

For a cheapy, you will be impressed. easy hook up & additional bass tuning !!! It also has the remote wire for power switching. After you run the three amp wires, run three off the amp to the crossover and bingo, your jamming !!!
