    Door lights

The lights in my door (above the handle) are intermittently working. Anyone else experience this and how did you fix it? Tried swapping for new bulbs and LEDs and no good- must be in wiring.

    Answerd my own problem:

    I'm a dumbass.

LED's are polarized- turned them around and they work like a charm.

    Yep, I'm a dumbass.

There's a great list of all the LED's here:

If you have a 6-speed, it's a little different. For example, you don't need the shift plate light and you will need a bulb for the ashtray (It's a 161)

Anyone know the bulb (not LED) replacement #. The bulb in my drivers door shattered in the socket so i don't know how I'm going to get it out. The passenger door is burnt out, and needs to be SAFELY pulled out.. Any suggestions?

Both mine broke but I was able to grab the filament with a pair of pliars and yank it out. I can't remember what the bulb was- either a 194 or 74. 194 is same size as 74, only brighter.

Seriously look at the LEDs- they'll work better for you. Plus they don't get so hot to lock up in the sockets and chances are they won't go out. Not a bad upgrade for about 10 bucks.

Do you have to order them offline somewhere or can you find them in a store like autozone?

Both of mine did the same thing. Is the filament still sticking out? Try grabbing the filament with a pair of pliars and yanking them out. Otherwise, get a pair of gloves and a dental pick and start picking away!

I think the filament is just about completely gone from the drivers door. the passenger door still has the bulb in it, but I cannot get it to budge and don't wanna break it like the drivers side.

The passenger side will break- there is something about the way those are designed that causes them to seize up. I would go ahead and wrap a tissue around it and pop it with a hammer, that way you can get a good grip on the filament and pull it out. Use a good pair of needle nose pliars to grab ahold of the drivers side. Make sure you pull straight out.

So what if there is no filament left on the drivers door, whats a good way to get it out? I mean I havent put forth a crazy effort to get it out or anything yet, but I remember it was stuck pretty well in there with little to no filament exposed. I'll check on my lunch break today just to make sure.

Get a dental pick (get a decent set, their cheap and they're very useful). Make sure the lights are off (or you could do the safe thing and disconnect the battery). You'll have to just pick it out. From what I can tell it seizes up where the glass and plastic meet. It's usually not seized where the contacts are, so once you get most of the glass off from around the top you should be able to pop the contacts out.

Thanks for the advice.. I was able to use a pick and dig out the remainder of the bulb in the drivers door. Now I just gotta get the passenger one out, which once again I'll be following your advice.. Thanks again!

Anyone know the part # of the door panel light socket? Or a similar socket that would hold a 194 / 74 LED? I have an extra LED that I am planning on using as an ambient light to shine on my center console and need to find a good socket for it..
