I have a 99 z w/monsoon same problem. I removed the sail panel speakers and plugged them into the rear plug and they worked fine. I thought it might be the amp so I bought another off of ebay. still same problem. I'm thinkin its gotta be the stereo.

I replaced all 6 of my speakers in my 2000 SS w/ Pheonix Gold. I also put a sweet Alpine head unit in. I originally had the Moonson stereo also. I left the factory amp in. It sounds a 100 times better now.

Same boat here. Gently push the speaker in while the stereo is on and see if it responds. Mine does and this means that the speakers are simply worn out.

yea - because that's all they are supposed to play.....is bass.... the signal from the Monsoon amp only passes lower frequencies -- this is the only channel(s) that do not receive a full range signal from the amp.
So...if they don't work at ALL....maybe it's because they're weak anyway (look at them with high volumes, play with fade/bal), blown, connected improperly, close to being blown, etc etc...

Hey guys, I was looking at the Camaro SS Portfolio and it says that the camaro came with 8 speakers. I could only count six. Does anyone else know where the other two are hidden?

If you really want to get technical, the wiring diagram shows 12 speakers for the TA. It shows the full and tweeter in the door panel, the sub as two (sub, and voice coil) in the sail panel, and the full range and tweeter in the hatch area. Repeat on the other side. As we know, the "sub" is subject to a lot of abuse and is usually the first to go. I fixed this problem by adding 2 10 inch subs on a new hatch divider panel along with an amp to power them. Now I have bass that shakes the whole car and you can't see them normally, the thing flips over so I can store the T-tops like normal. I suggest doing something like this for anyone who really wants some bass. IMO, the rest of the stereo is good enough. Not up to technofile standards, but it sure blows away a lot of other factory units. I especially like the equalizer set up, no scrolling thru menus to adust the frequencies.
