Common Cause of Air Bad Light

My air bag light just came on today. My first assumption on things like this is a corroded connection or bad fuse. Any recommendation of areas/connections that become corroded or damaged pertaining to the air bag? Any other recommended things to check/try before havin to have a shop look at it?

Air bags/safety systems are no joke. I wouldn't touch that with a 10 ft pole, no matter how much i think i know about electronics. I would let the experts deal with that (and be responsible) for it..

ya but if its just a corroded connection or something simple. . . i would rather fix it myself than have to pay the dealer to something that simple. the bags arent gonna go off or anything.

Let someone qualified look at it, first thing is to scan for any "B" codes for the SIR before diagnosing. Not following the procedures correctly could inadvertently deploy the air bag(s) and that would be expensive - not to mention dangerous. Looked this up in my helms a while ago (think you posted in the link, had to do with an alarm issue?). One thing to look for was the module under the console connections for corrosion/water intrusion.
