cd player install and stock amp question

Just installed a head unit into my buddies ta...he is worried that the stock amp isnt working....i used a wiring adapter and the blue wire with the white stripe on it that comes from the cd player i hook to the remote wire for the amp and also hooked it to the blue wire on the harness which operates the antenna....im pretty sure the only wire left that didnt get hooked up was the orange with white stripe....shouldnt the stock amp be working....its pretty loud...i would think if the amp was on it wouldnt work that well....anyway any suggestion?

If the stock amp wasnt working you wouldnt get sound from several speakers. Some are powered by the headunit and some the amp.
