Car Wont Start, When Jumoped Gauges turn off + On?

My car was dead yesterday so I jumped it, when I was driving it the speedometer would like turn off and all the lights on the display come one and then turn back on. The car never died though, it only dies when I turn it off. So I think it might be the battery but I am not sure. I bought a replacement but havnt installed it, could this be the alternator or voltage regulator?

sounds like a short to me which would ultimately kill your battery after it sits for a while my brother hooked up his radio very shitty and it shorted and would kill his bat. lucky it didnt burn his 97 z28 up.. check into it asap. there is a fuse for the speedometer start there???? i dunno good luck

If the fuse was blown i wouldnt have a speedometer. So I dont think its that, However if the battery was Screwed you think that could cause it to jump? Or if the alternator is going then that would def do it don`t you think?

I'd look at the battery/connections first. Bring it somewhere that does free battery load testing.
