Light Pewter Metallic- y2k 8-cylinder catfish
The car won't start or anything
It's something electrical. Took it out after work yesterday to the store, started just fine, started just fine leaving the store to come back home. Get it backed into the garage, shut it off. I get out, notice I have more room to back up, so I get back in, try to start the car, it clicks and nothing. Dead as a doornail. No interior lights, nothing works. Tried jumping the battery with the Honda, and at first, noticed the security light was blinking like it always does then I open the door, while the cars are hooked up and the Honda running. I'm thinking, good, it might be fine, try to start it, I get a click, and then, dead. The jump failed. Something's amiss. Checked the PCM/IGN fuse to make sure it wasn't blown, and it's fine. After telling my story to both Y2K and another friend, they both say it's likely the alternator.

May sound too simple but mine did the same thing recently and it was just corrosion where the battery cables screw into the battery. Wire brush and connection cleaner fixed her up.

Check the battery voltage/connections first.

Yes, I'm going to look that over this evening. Wouldn't that be great if that's all the problem is.

Well ladies and germs, all is fine now. It was corrosive gunk built up at the positive post. I disconnected it from the battery and as soon as it came off, some white powdery junk fell off so I took a wire brush to the connector and the input on the battery to get any leftover gunk off and then inserted the connector back in (it drew a small spark so that was promising) then upon pushing it in further, the rear hatch popped up. Tightened it back on, then went to open the door and lights inside came on, security light on the dash blinking, checked the headlights, they came on. So I started it up and let it run for a bit.
Thanks all for the advice.

I know Coke works but no soft drink is gonna get poured in my engine bay. I'm as anal about it being clean as Y2K is.

Baking soda and water works well too. Just use a small brush and it will clean the connections.
