This cant be good!! aNY IDEAS

Well, i have continued to have my problem with the lights flickering in my 99 Z, and just tried to live with it. The other day, I startd my car and all my gauges went to max; speedo at 155, tach at 6g's, temp, volts. gas, everything. When the engine idled down, they all went back to normal!!!Now i am a bit worried. i am almost scared to drive it now. Does anyone have any ideas?

the speedo bezel comes out and it has no wire plug in. instead it is a solid piece that is connected to the bezel and it plugs in when you screw the bezel in tight take it all out carefully. and maybe it is not connecting great. when i changed the bulbs in mine i disconnected it and then when i re connected it that is exactly what it did for a split second!!! try that. just a suggestion.+++if you have already taken it out before maybe u put it in wrong or not tight enough. BE VERY CAREFULL.easily breakable

    Either that, or the alternator.

Mine got wet the other week, and I was throwing over-voltage... but my other guages were fine. Until I got to about 18 volts, then you start getting warning lights all over the place...

My lights (headlights and markers) flickered for a month or two, then one day my instruments freaked out - sounds similar. I had the boys at my shop test the electrical system and found a very weak battery (stereo killed it). That and my terminals were a bit dirty. I suggest testing the system first. Lots of local auto parts shops will run a test for free... altho it's usually a Schucks/AutoZone type of place. Some NAPA's will as well,
Goodyear's will do it for about 40.00

Does sound like a ground/battery issue.

How old is the battery? Have you drained it so the car won't start multiple times? i.e. leaving the stereo on while cleaning or something?

Be careful on the testing of the battery. I have had them load test a battery for me two seperate times and find nothing wrong then I go ahead and replace it and problem solved.

X2. If it's a Delco battery, check and see if it's puking acid down the cables. I've seen this twice in the last 2 years, my car and a friends.
