Build me a setup!
Im looking to spend no more than $600-700 and want a nice setup that will pound and sound clear. Im thinking alpine for the sub or subs and Alpine for the HU. HELP! Im a total newb to sound upgrades. The stock monsoon isn't cutting it for me anymore.

For the money you want to spend you will need to keep the monsoon HU and just buy a sub or subs and a good amp. Maybe if you have enough left replace the door speakers with INfinitys.

for money you can definitely do better than simply a amp/sub combo....
what are you looking for in sound?
I'd first recommend a new HU without a doubt..
say thats $200
other $500 can easily be spend on new door speakers and amp/sub combo.....though you may wish to amp doors as well..
what aren't you happy with the Monsoon -- volume? clarity?

hey I am just telling you my opinion- I am sure yours differs no doubt. The way I look at it is this-why not buy quality and expand later when he gets some more money? Thats just how I see it. Why buy sub par equiptment that you will never be satisfied with? Like I already mentioned-get a good sub amp, a good set of subs and a good box for them-or go with 1 sub in a stealth box- and maybe, if the money allows put in a set of Infinity door speakers.

always dirty- 2013 Ram 2014 Caddy ATS
new speakers and a new headunit will make a big difference. you can always upgrade to a sub and amp later. there is always someone selling there stuff when something new or better comes along.

I decided not to do shit to it anymore. Looking to get a Corvette so there would be no point.

I guess a lot of our discussion depends on what exactly he is satisfied with. He may be happy with lots of cheaper power....or he may be happy with not so much power, but quality stuff...who knows
My opinion does not differ -- I just don't know what you are thinking for $700 so I asked. (ex: you could mean $700 name brand stuff from Best Buy or Crutchfield, or you could mean $700 from nicer discount sites, or $700 of non-mainstream audiophile brands, etc..)

True. But if he is anything like most teenagers- there is never enough POWER! hahaha
I dunno. He says he is gettin a vette now so I guess problem solved -till he is ready for a system in that. As far as brands. I like name brands-always have. Alpine,Kenwood, JL etc. I have never had a issue with any amp,sub or HU. I had alpine v12(I believe)amp and a smaller alpine amp for 6x9s when I had a engine fire in a 84 z/28 and the fire department came and put the car out. Flooded it. Those amps were in the trunk/t-top hole under 2 ft of water. I took them out and let them dry out for 2 weeks. I tried them and both worked fine no problem!
