Anyway to turn off automatic headlights?

Don't know if this is the right forum for this question.

I have an 01 WS6 and it came from Canada so the headlights pop up and down automatically. In the interest of saving my headlight motors does anyone know how I can stop this from happening and put the control of the headlights back in my hands?

It could be one of two possibilities:

One of your motors are already going bad.

    or

Your alarm is set to turn the headlights on when you press a button. This is one of the options when programming it. You will need to reprogram.

When it gets dark they automatically come on. But sometimes if I'm in covered parking at work the come on when I turn the car on but as soon as I'm in the sunlight for a minute or two they shut off and in the morning since I drive away from the sun they come on even though it's plenty light out side.

It doesn't do it when I set the alarm.

Ha its just like the Camaros....I didn't even know they did that on T/As. Theres writeups about bypassing the automatic headlights on the camaros, so I guess if yours is the stock setup everything should be the same.

    Ok.

I am going to assume you aren't the original owner.

    And here's my solution:

Someone has wired a daylight sensor into your lighting system. You will have to find it and remove it. Sorry, I have no idea where they would have placed it.

TA's don't have that as an option.

although gm had done funny stuff....i know a guy with a T/A that has the ASR button instead of the TCS button. Its in the same place as on the Camaros too. He swears up and down it came from the factory like that.

Darn, well appreciate all the assistance. I'll have to see if I can find the sensor. I know it's not in the dash since I have a dashmat.

could be stock. my old car was a mazda mx6 and the 94 or 95+ had DRLs and auto headlights in canada only. had to be for canadian standards. so it would make sense that they did it for the T/A. Im guessing either it would be similar to the camaro. you should be able to cut a wire or something to stop this i would assume.

Careful what you cut... Could send it into a default mode and the lights would be on All the time .. IE.. Turn on as soon as you start the car. ?
