Anyway to see if power is going from the steering wheel controls?
I'm having a hard ass time hooking up my Soundgate or SWIX. I think some wire got mixed up from the previous owner when they installed the Soundgate.
I heard the steering wheel button's wire is a dark blue. I've hooked up a test light to it, and pressed the buttons but it's not getting a signal. Nor is my SWIX.
I see there are two blue wires, but neither is sending anything according to the test light. I've checked the fuses and they are fine. The lights in the buttons all work.
Any help?

I think it works by sending changes in resistance, so a light tester wouldn't work. You would need something to test resistance. Here are the pins and what the function is. You can ruin the swi-x if you connect it wrong. I connected it to the wrong blue wire and was ok after. In my other car I did the same thing(same color wires again) and broke the swi-x, wouldn't go to programming mode, returned it and all was good.
Pin#............Color.................Function
1...............Grey..................Front Left Speaker -
2...............Tan...................Front Left Speaker +
3...............Dark Green............Front Right Speaker -
4...............Light Green...........Front Right Speaker +
5...............Black.................Ground
6...............Brown.................Illumination
7...............Grey..................Dimmer
8...............Pink..................Power Antenna
9...............Yellow................12V Ignition
10..............Orange................12V Constant
11..............NA....................NA
12..............NA....................NA
13..............NA....................NA
14..............Dark Blue.............Steering Wheel Controls
17..............Light Blue............Right Rear Speaker -
18..............Dark Blue.............Right Rear Speaker +
19..............Yellow................Left Rear Speaker -
20..............Brown.................Left Rear Speaker +

If you cut any of the wires already you can try and connect 1 at a time and see if your rear speaker works, then you would know which one it is for sure.

I would ditch the test light and check it with a multi-meter. I don't know what the volatges are from the controls but they may be too low for the light to indicate anything. Test lights shouldn't be used in cars equipped with air bags anyway.
