alpine dvd lock
I recently got a alpine iva-c800 and someone told me to just ground the parking brake wire and i did and it didnt do anything. I just want to get to all the menus so my question is where is the parking brake wire located in a 98 z?

you don't even have to do that. most dvd players come with a override button located under your dash or seat. or a touch screen button you can hit on the setup menu. read your manual or just take it to the nearest circuit city and tell them they installed and you can't figure it out. they'll find it in like two minutes. the same thing happened to me and i took it in and they fixed the problem in two minutes.

I also have the alpine flip screen dvd in my car, but I was wondering... I never did connect the ground wire or the parking brake.. so are you saying that i can just go in and override this by pressing a button or flipping a switch somewhere? I want to be able to watch a dvd, but I cannot without having the cables ground

o.k. i have the jensen and it has a override built in from the factory, on the setup menu. the alpine have a switch on the back of the flip under a sticker but if removed it voids warranty, if it doesn't have the sticker and switch you might need a override control module.

Ive got the Pioneer DVD flip out and we just wired in a little switch, so when the warning screen pops up you just flip the switch

Read the manual. You have a sequence of setting the parking brake and hitting the brakes to get it on. I think you have to buy a bypass module to get it to stay on. You can check ebay for it. You can also check your menus to see if there is a way to turn it off.
