95 monte carlo security light

I have a Z34 model and I installed a cd player in it a couple of weeks ago. A couple of days ago it started giving me the security light. Sometimes it takes a couple of tries to start it. THere is no cranking of the motor..just silence. All the lights come on though. And when it does start..the security light comes on but may go off after a few minutes. ideas on the cause? or how to fix it?

Got VATS? Tried cleaning the key pellet/another key? Not sure if your car is the same as the F-body but http://shbox.com/1/vats_bypass.jpg shows you how to delete it if that's the problem, site also shows you how to measure the resistance of the pelet and what size resistor you'll need.

I just wiped off the pellet on the key and that seemed to do the trick
