4 or 6 speakers?
Just curious if my camaro with the Monsoon Audio and 12 disc changer has 4 or 6 speakers. I wanna not get a sub and just get bass speakers instead. If it has 4 get the 2 in the back as bass. If it has 6 the same shit but I would like to know. Oh mine is convertible if it matters.

i dont know if it is different for converts or not but with the monsoon system on coupes there are 10 speakers. tweater and 6 1/2"s in the doors, 6 1/2"s in the back seat, tweater and 4"s in the trunk area. it might be different with convertables or with the changer.

So not including the tweaters there is one in each door at 6 and 1/2 same for the passenger ones and then 2 in the trunk? That would make only 6. There are 4 tweaters?

The Camaro only has 6 speakers. The Firebirds have 10. On the Camaro, the tweeters are built in, and the Firebirds, they aren't. I'd just get a pair of the Elemental Designs subs and put them in the sail panels, and get CDTs for the front doors and hatch.

Well I have a convert so I dont want to use the little trunk space I have. I dont want subs. I want bass speakers and I want to know the best place to put them pretty much. Since you answered my question. Does the vert have the two in the very back like most cars?

How are you going to get bass without having a sub?
Have you though about using a shallow mount sub?

The fronts have seperate tweeters mounted coaxially. The rears are 6 1/2 but I am not sure if they just do bass or are full range. There are no speakers in the trunk area. The problem with the rear is you are limited in how deep the speaker can be because of the top mechanism. Also since the top of the panel is open to the rest of the car you will still get limited bass. If you want some true bass the best way would be some sort of subwoofer in the rear. There are several ways to do it you just need to find the best way for you.

Bass sound comes from subs (subwoofers). You might be able to fit 8" subs in the same space as the 6.5" speakers that are in your car now.
I know this can be done in 3rd gens (even a 10" sub will fin the sail panel of a 3rd gen!!)
Best thing to do is remove the speaker grille and measure.

I remember my friends 300 had AMAZING bass and just speakers in general and he didnt have any subwoofers in his trunk or anything. He said they were bose. How can I get that similar effect?

It all depends on your budget.
You could put some shallow mount 8's in the rear with a good 6.5" component set up front or look for a good set of 6.5" subs.
It all depends on what you want, your budget and space.

So let me get this straight. My camaro with the monsoon audio only has 4 speakers not including the tweaters right? So should I put 2 bass speakers in the back and get 2 regular front ones?

I believe you have 6.5" speakers in the door and athe same in the rear. YOu could put a component or co axel in the door and subs in the rear. Do you need an amp? What is your budget for the speakers?
Have a look at these

Here is my recommendation
Front - These speakers received very good reviews from magazines and forum users.

or

Rear (bass)

Amp

or if you're on a budget

This should give you some idea
If it were me I'd go with the Image Dynamics front speakers, JL rears and Alpine amp. Cost $750 (plus install). The alpine amp would give you more than enough power to drive the subs and give you good clean loud music.Last edited by The Project; 12-27-2008 at 06:16 AM.

Honestly, I'd get CDT speakers instead of the Image Dynamics, and as for the rear, I'd get Elemental Designs instead of the Kicker. CDT has some mid-bass speakers that might work good. Not sure though. I'd talke to Kee Audio.
