3 of 4 speakers working ?

'97 Z right front speaker tests OK and works wired to an outside unit ,but only makes terrible cracking noises when stock radio/cassete unit is installed and turned on. I can only get the speaker to work if it is wired from a radio directly to the speaker i .e. door panel removed. Is there a power amp or something wired into the factory unit? It is only a base system w/ cassete. I can't get any speakers to work acessing the pin connector that plugs into the back of the unit, It also appears that a previous owner had an aftermarket unit installed,then removed before I bought the car .. HELP/?

Sounds like you have a bad wire in the loom going through the door to me-rewire the door wiring.

hey joe.. ur problem would probably be that ur trying to put a stock system back in the car.. once you have taken a stock head unit out of the car and want to replace it you have to get a password from the dealership.. only cut antitheft is usually interlinked into your head unit.. this is probably why u cant get any speakers to work..
