10" subwoofer suggestions
after many years of service my jl audio 10" woofer is on its way out.i don't know much about woofers,so i am asking what would be the best woofer? the t/a has the factory monsoon head unit and speakers, plus a subthump stealth box,and rockford-fosgate amp (not sure how many watts the amp pushes).thanks.

Navy Blue Metallic- 2001 WS6
I had a Memphis Audio dual voice coil 10" in my last setup and it sounded pretty good. I hated the JL in the stealth box and got rid of it pretty soon after I got it.

Pewter- 1999 Trans am
I have heard a few different ones in a 4th gen. Right now I have an RE audio 10'' in a stealth box that I would never change. Alpine type R, Infinity Kappa Perfect, and a JL w3v2 all sound stellar as well.

You can't go wrong with any of these.

You need to make sure the sub matches well with the amp. For example, if you get a dual voice coil 4-ohm sub, that means you'll need to connect the 2 voice coils in parallel (2-ohm load) or in series (8-ohm load). If your amp works best with a 4-ohm load, you wouldn't want a DVC 4-ohm sub.

i agree the JL w3v2 sounds great...but for the stealth enclosure for f-bodys, the w1v2 sounds better...not as loud...but way better sound quality- at half the price....i had the w3v2 in my z28 w/ the JL 250/1 ....w1v2 sounds better IMO....w3's need more air space....ported if possible to sound its best....the w1 was made for small enclosures.

Arctic White & Black- '98 WS6 M6 - SWAPTIME!
I have an Alpine Type R 10" and it's awesome - sounds great at every level. If you're concerned about $$ ... try to find an '07 or '08 Type R, I got an '07 model in '08 for $90 from an audio shop. Definitely worth every cent you spend

If you liked your old JL...then pick up another......if the amp is 2 ohm stable you could get a 4 ohm dual voice coil sub. Either the JL w1 or JL w3 will suit your needs.

amp is stable to 4ohms bridged you want a dual 2ohm or a single 4ohm sub
