07 solstice stereo in 00 trans am?

Hi Everyone, haven't posted here in a few years. Actually, since the forum got reset.

The monsoon stereo in my 2000 trans am has picked up an intermittent power drain that kills a battery (sometimes!) over two nights. I want to stick with my stock system, for the most part (possible exception, see below). I don't want to loose the steering wheel controls. I suppose my options are to get another OEM unit from ebay, try to have an electronics guy track down what's wrong with the unit I have, or----

Is it possible to use a monsoon unit from an 07 solstice? Maybe with some kind of adaptor cables? I've been looking at the units for a while and thinking how cool they are.

Is this an insane idea? I have had a few in the past.

i dont know about the stereo from a solstice fitting but . . . you may talk to a good stereo installer because when I was considering gettin my reciever changed in my 98 bird. . . the guys at Great Sounds here in muncie said it was possible to make your steering wheel controls work with any aftermarket deck that was remote capable. i guess they had a kit that converted our controls to a remote

it was gonna be about $100 on top of the reciever install.
