Sounds like its time for a built Tranny... Performabuilt has some good prices for built 4l60e's and converter combo, plus comes with a 2 year warrentee even if you race it.
If you decide to have yours rebuilt get the heavy duty sprage and Beast sunshell atleast

Sounds like you cooked your trans fluid. I agree with Mark on the tranny upgrade.

dang.....sorry to hear that. You just bought that car too right? Wonder if it's a maintenance issue or something from the previous owner? 4L60e's aren't known for being super dependable but they really shouldn't crap out at stock power levels either. I'm heads/cam on my 98 with 98k miles on it, stalled, torque management removed, shift times reduced and shift pressures raised.

White- 1998 Camaro SS
i got a stock automatic on a 98 ss it over revs and then shifts after over revin only when i manual shift the gears. it has a shift kit installed in the tranny but at times the shifting isnt as firm or quik as it should be with a shift kit. I was told it could be in the computer but the tranny shifts good in drive but still dont have that firm shift at times. could someone please give me some info on this situation if available?
thanks
