Top speed?

Whats the fastest a stock GTO can hit if the Limiter was removed? I'm not a bonsai running type so I'd never try it but I'd love to know what they would do without the limiter. Anyone tried it yet? I'm guessing 165ish or so.

well my gto is not stock by far and i dont have a limiter and ive hit 165mph in 5th gear and by the time i shifted into 6th, I was impressed enough to slowdown from there so i know it would go alot more then that and that is no bull story.

180 mph is the top speed I'm pretty sure. Because I saw it in Motor Trend a couple months back

I think a stock Vauxhall did 180 as that didn't have a limiter. So it should be right around there. Don't know if the GTO nose is any better aerodynamically.

Stock limiter is set to 151mph I believe.....

'04 was 155. Don't know about '05 or '06.

My 04 (pre-predator) was 157 on the clock. I also know that according to my predator, my speedo is 2 mph faster.
I do not know how fast it can go now because I don't want to crap in my pants like I almost did at 155.

This would be Diablosports predator handheld tuner. Not as good as a Dyno tune but for the price (I bought used) it was by far the biggest bang for the buck mod I've done. Just plug and play and change some parameters in fuel-spark- and tranny shift points and pressures (for a4 ) and the beast is unleashed. Just the reduction in torque mgnt. alone was worth it for my A4.

HSV and Holden conducted a test for this, On an Airforce Base.

It was in a HSV Maloo ute & was 277KPH or 173.125MPH

The video is on youtube under "Worlds fastest ute"

Close enough to a stock GTO.

Ive had my stock 04 up to 155 with no problems a few times, a close friend claims 189 with his rev lim. removed.
his only mods were exhaust and k&n cai.
whatever it is i am sure its near 180 it just takes a bit to get her there

Well I have one, and I have seen 156, or 155 stock, I have added a cai and predator, haven't had a good chance to top those numbers, but I seriously doubt it will do over 170, at those speeds it takes alot too move through the air, even with increased power!!!! Food for the thought...

That shows theoritical top speed, not actual. Actual in 1-5 gears, but not 6th.
