    tire sizes

I ending up getting a good deal on a set of tsw thruxtons today the tires are 245/45/18 the guy I got them from said he had them on his gto but I an into a little problem with the fronts. The tire touches the bottom of the strut but I also noticed that the stock tires were damn close if not right up against the strut also. Does this have something to do with spring shag or are the tires too tall for the front?

I didn't have strut rub at all, but had LOTS of front to back wheel movement so I replaced bushings with poly and the goat now handles like a dream.

while your under there check your tierod ends.....under $30 each for Pedders tierod ends.....mine were so bad it was down right scary!

So I was looking pedders website and found the tire rub package I'm planning on getting that and poly bushings for the front and back. So this will make enough room for the thruxtons?

The 245/45/18 are taller than stock 235/40/18 or
245/40/18. Don't think you can get enough neg
cam to run 245/45/18s. Will probably need 235/40/18 or
    245/40/18s.

I just ordered the pedders front sway bar bushing, front sway bar link bushings and the lovells caster adjustable radius rod front bushings. I picked up the lovells bushings for 50 bucks less then the pedders.

Ok, After busting my ass at work I finally had a day off to put the bushings in the drivers side took 3 hours lol took my time on it since I've never messed with this stuff before. The pass. side only took 45 mins since knowing what I was doing. Well I went with the standard setting on the radius rod bushings and got the pedders aline. and well no luck with the 18's still touch the strut and can't fit a finger between the tire and the strut with the stocker 17's. But the braking is firm and the steering is tight and can feel every damn bump thats on the road through the steering wheel!!!!

you might try more Caster....pushing the wheel back will make it more aggressive, and should give you a hair more clearence....but rougher ride.
I have mine on the more aggressive setting and love it!

did you check your strut bearing? they do go out, but not as often as the stock bushings, it could be causing your wheel to tip in at the top a hair too

No I havent checked the strut bearings only has 40k on the car and as far as the caster I didnt want to mess with it cuz I dont really know what setting would be best so I went with the standard setting. The radius rod bushings themselves looked perfect when I took them out.

I used it when I did the install but I have lovells rr bushings and it come with a drawing that says how degree caster there was like six diff. settings. Well the caster setting wont free up any room so I going with a diff. tire size since this stuff didn't help any.
