SS Commodore.
Hey guy's.
I haven't got a GTO (Cough*monaro*cough).
I've got a SS Commodore. Which is what the 03/04 GTO was based on.
Here's there engine bay, basically Identicle to a GTO bay.
I've got an OTR intake here but i've not got a MAFless tune yet.
I've noticed allot of you blokes running OTR setups and retaining the MAF sensor.
How? (haha)
I've not seen anyone in Australia do this succesfully (Our car scene just plays follow the leader, everyone just does what the loudest mouth says, and it gets really quiet stale after a while).
Any information would be great!
(great forum you've got here too btw!)

Phantom Black Metallic- 2004 GTO M6
The folks who run the OTRCAIs on their Monaros cut the tape holding the MAF wire in place and pull the harness back to run the MAF a few inches from the throttle body and remap their ECM. In Australia, the Holdens/HSVs run mad. Some running between 500RWHP to upwards of 1000RWHP. I love it!!! Especially with shops like MWS, just awesomeness.

500rwhp is kind of an average amongst alot of Commodore owners over here. Commodore is Identicle to the Monaro in every way except its a Sedan. They're alot more prolific over here and cheap so more people modify them.
We've not really got a great deal on the market over here as far as OTR setups retaining the MAF go as everyone seems to go with a MAFless or SD tune. Thus why I was looking abroad. That said, I'd really love to slot a new bump stick into the motor shortly so It may well be a waste of engery as the cam will need a tune anyway.
While I'm here.
230 - 232/110
To you guys, is that a slightly aggressive came profile or not?
I keep getting told buy allot of guys in aus that its probably going to be a dog on the street, but I see allot of Americans running that and bigger with no issue.

It's all in who tunes it I know people that are running MS4 cams in their daily driver!!! 230s sounds like a good cam don't let anyone talk you outta of it it's your car. Most people will tell you 220 for a DD is the best way to go they have NO IDEA!!!

Yeah I think the problem with the Aussie scene is everyone plays follow the leader. The loudest mouth is the "correct" one. Which is hardly ever the case.
I'd purchase a cam from the states, as it seems to be cheaper even with postage and the range seems to be allot better.
Any personal recomendations I should consider when looking into a cam?

The Texas Speed Torquer V.2 is a popular choice. Just do lots of research who knows you might find yourself picking up a custom grind. I sent you a PM with a website that sells OTR CAI that you can use your MAF it should work since it look mirror to the GTOs under the hood. It might help you out on what you need to get it done.

Ahh, cheers mate.
While I'm here, is there any howto's on porting the stock LS6 manifold floating around?
I can nut it out myself, but I'd like to see what others have done if possible.

Cool car. I'm cruising around in the younger sibling, the g8. Was the paint any better in 03 than it was in 09? Gotta say, my car has more spots at 20k than any other vehicle I've owned.

That is one good lookin' sedan!!! If we'd had more of that over here, I'm sure GM would be in a lot better shape...

Thanks guys.
The 2000-2006 paint quality is FAR better then anything after.
Over here my model is designated VY (2002-2004) after the VY is the VZ which looks a little different, but essentially the same body shape it went from 2004 till 2006.
The G8, is a VE over here.
for the GTO guys, if you're after parts have alook for anything that will fit a 2000 till 2006 Commodore. All the parts should fit!
Looking to get some of these:
