shift light
I'm hooking up a shift light in my 04 a4.
I need to find and tap into the white wire coming out of the computer for tach signal right?
I tried the brown wire with red strip behind the gauges and it didn't work

Phantom Black Metallic- 2004 GTO M6
A buddy of mine told me which wire did what on the 04 because I plan to get a pod with dual gauges for the center of the dash. Unfortunately I can't remember at this time.

ok for any one who wants to hookup a shift light in there 04 GTO, I just finished mine.
there is a white plug under the drivers side kick panel (right by the hood release)
I spilced the green wire(tach pickup) into the only ALL brown wire at the white plug.
red wire to hot acc fuse.
black to ground by the fuse box.
now you MUST set your shift light/ aftermarket tach to the 4 cylinder setting to have it work properly.......(i guess the signal comes from only one bank?)
quick easy install, it took about 30 minutes including time to drop the A pillar cover and mount the light!
