people say to take the resonator out to make your exhaust sound louder. I think the gto has two.. how easy is that to do and what are the effects and disadvantages?

I don't know how "Hip to the Resonators" the muffler shops are nowadays but when I had mine removed I played hell trying to convince the guy that they were not cats. The 04's have 2 (the second chamber downstream) on each pipe and they look like they could be cat chambers-they are not. Good luck and look for a price range between $60-$80.

Removed the resonators on ours and didn't make much of a difference in sound. Maybe a tad, but not worth the trouble. IMO

Here's where they are located on a stock 04

Hey thanks 1badassz. that really helps. I always thought that those were Cats. In fact I even asked the guy who installed my SLP and he also sayed that they were cats. Wow we were wrong. So then there is only 2 cats on the car right?. Cool JBA mid pipe catless here we come,,,,,,,,,

Yeah.. There's only 2 cats, up by the exhaust manifolds. I decided to just go with Kook LT's and Off Road connection pipes. Sounds much better.
