Phantom Black Metallic- 2004 GTO M6
I have heard on the stock 17s a 275/40 tire could be run without rubbing. I run my stock 17s with 245s all around for winter.

I am running 275/40's on a 18x9.5 rim with drag bags. If it were not for the drag bags they would rub like crazy on take off and on bumps.

I had 275/40/17s and they didnt rub. The passenger side touched just a hair but not enough to barely leave a mark. Some cars are different. Honestly, some cars hit and some dont. Get drag bags and you wont have an issue. It might make a fart sound once in a while though....lol

Well as you know the GTO's "squat" and present some different issues than the FBody guys.
I have a 2004 GTO myself. Going on 7 years now. I have modified the suspension/Springs/Shocks/Bushings etc. and have rolled the rear fenders years ago.
I have run Mickey Thompsons 275/40/17 on the stock 17" wheel with no issue.
I have run Nitto's 275/40/17 on the stock 17" wheel no issue.
Many stock GTO guys run the Nitto's with no issue and a "little" rub with the M/T's.
