Oil blowing out of valve cover

I did the famous 'Sarge' PCV catch-can and vented oil cap mod. It's been installed for over a year now. Last week, I noticed some oil on my plastic valve cover-cover. Anyhow, I wiped it off thinking that maybe I spilled a bit of oil when I changed the oil last month.

After a few days, the oil returned. I wiped it off again, and it re-appeared. It looks like it is coming out of the oil fill breather on the valve cover. Should this be happening?

Hey Joe, Try to clean the filter up, it might be saturated with oil and will hold no more. Mine did the same thing and a little K&N cleaner did the trick.

I second that. Mine was also oil soaked and I just cleaned it. I think next time it gets that way I will replace it. Its been on for three years.

So here is my update. There was a small filter in my catch can that was plugged. I removed this filter and now I seem to have a lot of vacuum 'sucking' air through the vented oil cap on the valve cover. Instead of 'blowing' oil and air out it is sucking air in.

Just wondering....if the filter on my catch can was plugged, and the vacuum from the lifter valley was blocked, could I have created a vacuum leak now between the lifter valley and the valve cover? Any ideas?

Do you have the hoses crossed? Out of the valley into the top of the catch can> From the bottom or cylinder portion of the can into the intake? Maybe??? Just a suggestion
