keep the 19s and get yourself some drag radials. nitto makes a couple sizes in 19.

    Welcome to the site!

A set of Nitto drag radials on the rear will make you happy. 275s will fit without mods on the rear if your have the correct backspacing on your wheels and heard some people get as wide as a 315 with alittle wheel well rolling.

For a better lauch you might want to look into getting springs and drag bags.

Read through all the stickies and if you have any questions just ask!

You would prob be better off sticking with the 245/45 if you get 17s.

I run a 235 in the front because the 245s hit the front of the wheel well on turns. I have a full Pedders suspension and have a 1 inch drop in the front. Now in the back I widened the stock 17 wheels to 9 inches and run a 275.

...so the bottom line is get the wheel that meets your future plans. There is no "best" answer to your qustion.

the 275 would never work on the front only the rear,245 is the biggest you can run on the front, then its stretching the space between the tire and the strut, the GTO has had alot of issues with strut rub, with the stock wheels.I run an 235 on mine, with a 8.5 x 17 wheel on the front, 245 tire was within a 1/4 inch from the strut and that was with a 1/4 wheel spacer.

    Welcome to the herd

I run 245's up front and 275's in the rear on 19in rims, also run drag bags in the rear to keep from rubbing the rear fender lip. I love the look of 19's on GTO's but they do run a bit harsh and don't have the best traction its a trade off. I still have my stock 17s which I will eventually get some sticky tires put on them for the track.
