Need info: What is the diffrence between the LS1 GTO/LS1 Fbody MOTOR/T56

What was changed? Diffrent injectors? Diffrent cam? Any revisions? Also does it come with the Z06 clutch like the the 01-02 fbodies did? I am looking at an 04 GTO 6speed, and was curious.

    Thanks.

Nothing for the most part. Different exhaust manifolds and exhaust. Different induction.

Same cam, heads, intake, block(LS6), etc. Mid year '04's got a new waterpump and same length head bolts just like the LS2.

LS6 clutch also. But the T56 is different. Has the Z06 gearing.

Yeha but hwat year f-body, the f-body ls1 98 had different heads, then some of the 98s-2000 had 853 casting heads and different cams, the 01 and 02 ls1s had 241 heads, smaller cam, slightly larger injectors and a ls6 intake manifold, but between the 02 ls1 and the 04 ls1 not much changed.

Wht about the starters? I'm putting an 04' GTO LS1 in a 240sx and using an 02' f-bod tranny. I'm wondering if there is any difference since the new flywheel and clutch I just installed has the same part number between the f-bod and GTO. Not looking for any surprises after I get everything wired and try to fire it.

It will work, my buddy had a ls1 in a 95 240, ran a 11.9 with a stock ls1, just headers and exhaust. Street tires, with drag radials, would have pulled 11.6s

Thanks! I'm running an MS4 cam and a few other goodies. I was hoping for 11's atleast, but now I'm sure unless I have issues adjusting to the IRS. Cant wait to get this thing going.

Ive heard the LS1 GTO's has everything LS6 except heads and cam(which are LS1 specs).

Ill try to find the article in my other GTO forum and post it.

So did the last F-Body. Its the same engine right down to the cam. The exhaust manifolds are different as well as the accessories, but its the same long block.

The '04 GTO has a LS6 block and intake, 241 heads, and '01-'02 cam.

YEah but the things that made the ls6 faster than the ls1 were the heads and cam. The block is the same size
