I know a lot of folks that broke many rear end parts on the '04 GTO's with 400+rwhp. But claimes are that they can withstand 5-600 rwhp.
'06 M6 GTO (Redrum)
Comp 228/232
SW LT's
GMM Ripper
JHP Pod
C.A.I. Air Box
HPS Tuned

Silver- 2004 Pontiac GTO
There's an article in GM HighTech that tells about a guy running an STS turbo with stock axles. Its not the power output as much as its the wheel hop that can break them.
Here's the link.

Ive heard of people putting drag radials on, if she starts wheel hopin, you gotta let off. Or you will break something.

I can tell you first hand they will take 580+ to the tires.
I'm doing 1.58-1.62 60' on drag radials.
The car is going Very low 11's and will be in the 10's as soon as I get rid of the wheel hop.
I WILL ALSO TELL YOU FIRST HAND THEY WILL HANDLE DEATHLY WHEEL HOP OUT OF THE GATE FOR AT LEAST 20 PASSES FOR ME.
I pulse the button in my hand until I get about 40 feet out to aid in stopping it.
Once I put the 3.91's I haven't been able to tune it out yet.......Soon it will be in the 10's and there is a second stage waitng.
So you don't have ANYTHING to worry about unless your blowing 200+.
Don't be afraid of the bottle!!! Be afraid of your tune!!!
